Bluegum is engaged in a variety of work including commercial grounds maintenance, residential gardening and process work.  It provides supported employment with award based wages in a real business situation.

Bluegum supports 24 crew members currently funded by State, Commonwealth and NDIS funding.  In the future, participants will be funded under the ADE support line in their NDIS plan.

Bluegum provides training in a range of work skills which has equipped a number of crew members to obtain open employment.   In addition to receiving training related to their work at Bluegum such as mowing, brush cutting etc, crew members learn generic work skills such as time management, work health and safety and team work. 

Bluegum provides the opportunity for  crew members to obtain accredited qualifications such as  Horticulture 1 and 2 Certificates if they wish.   

Several crew members have also had the opportunity to experience work experience through some of our commercial customers.

Grounds Maintenance

Bluegum can provide an experienced team equipped to undertake grounds maintenance utilising both chemical and non-chemical controls. We are Chem-Cert endorsed and are conversant in the use of eco friendly herbicides. 

For the past fifteen years, Bluegum has carried out both large and small scale grounds maintenance work for a variety of commercial and residential customers.

We provide experienced brushcutter, mower, chainsaw and slasher operators.

Native Plant Revegetation

Bluegum has undertaken various native revegetation projects for local businesses including West Tamar Council and TEMCO.

The benefits of increasing native biodiversity are well documented and many businesses include this as part of their overall property management plan. 

We can assist you in reducing introduced plants and facilitate the planting and ongoing maintenance of native species. 

Tree Felling

Bluegum is licenced to fell small trees. 

Process Work

Bluegum undertakes a range of process work for local commercial enterprises, including ACL Bearings.  We occupy a large modern workshop which can be adapted to suit many processing requirements or alternatively we can work at a site of your choosing.
