Northern Occupational Support Service inc (NOSS) commenced operation in August 1991, with 8 service users and 6 Support Workers. In accordance with the Community Integration Project, many of the people supported by NOSS lived at Willow Court before moving into shared homes in Launceston. Others were at risk of being institutionalised.
NOSS currently provides both community access and employment for people with a disability and supports approximately 70 adults with a disability living in the Launceston Area. NOSS is funded by both the State Department of Health and Community Services and the Commonwealth Department of Family, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
Northern Occupational Support Service (NOSS) will work with and for people with a disability to enhance their quality of life through the provision of support in activities which promote their involvement in the community.
NOSS is an incorporated association managed by a Board of Governance, which is responsible for policy development and long term planning within. Policies are reviewed regularly with input from relevant stakeholders. Association members is comprised of people within our community committed to the goals of NOSS. Anyone wishing to become an association member should contact the office. The current membership fee is $5.50.
